Strasbourg vs Lorient prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-11-12 16:05.
Julien StĂ©phan is trying to ignore the rising speculation over his position as Strasbourg boss after a fourth successive game without a win (D2, L2). âLe Racingâ even let a two-goal lead slip as they were hammered 4-2 by Ajaccio last weekend, but the manager insists heâs only interested in turning their form around, stating âmy personal case is not important.â
That recent run means Strasbourg have slipped deep into the Ligue 1 relegation zone, a far cry from their sixth-placed finish last season. Their home form is a particular concern, given Strasbourg have failed to win any of their opening seven matches at the Stade de la Meinau (D4, L3), making them one of only two teams in the division yet to taste success at home.
Perhaps this weekend will give Strasbourg the boost they need as they have never lost at home to opponents Lorient (W2, D2). They will have their work cut out to extend that record though, given âLes Merlusâ gave league leaders PSG a run for their money before succumbing to a 2-1 defeat last weekend, one of just two losses in ten games (W6, D2).
Those reversals have come in their last two outings though, making it four fixtures without a win for Lorient which has seen Regis Le Brisâ side slip out of the European qualification spots. The manager still insists his players are âmoving forwardâ, and they head to the Stade de la Meinau full of confidence after a run of three wins from their last four away games (D1), which is their longest unbeaten run on the road in a single top flight season since February to April 2011!
Players to watch: Kevin Gameiro has netted in his last three games for Strasbourg, but has been on the winning side in just two of his last seven goalscoring appearances (D4, L1). Meanwhile, Lorientâs Terem Moffi is joint third in the Ligue 1 golden boot race after matchday 14, netting nine times in 13 outings, already one more than the total he managed in the entirety of 2021/22.
Hot stat: Thereâs been three or more goals in seven successive Strasbourg matches, as well as eight of Lorientâs last nine games.
