Sunderland Hull prediction 2023-04-07

Sunderland vs Hull prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-04-06 16:30.
Sunderland produced a battling performance at runaway leaders Burnley on Friday night to secure a solid 0-0 draw against the Clarets. While manager Tony Mowbray was understandably keen to praise the “amazing” work ethic from his side to halt the Championship’s best team, that result did little to aid their own promotion push and the North East club finished the round six points off the play-offs – having played one game more than sixth-placed Blackburn.

Although the Black Cats have won only one of their last eight league outings, Mowbray will hope that result at Turf Moor can be a springboard to reignite the campaign. Especially with mid-table Hull coming to town, as Sunderland haven’t tasted defeat against them in any of the last eight H2H meetings (W3, D5).

The last three encounters in that sequence finished all square, which may be fancied again by many attending this one considering three of Hull’s last four league games also ended level (L1). The most recent in that streak against Rotherham was particularly frustrating as their opponents finished the game with ten men. Exasperated manager Liam Rosenior said after that game that his side need to be more “ruthless as a team” and stated it was something he was going to personally “address”.

Scoring goals has been a growing issue for the Tigers, especially on the road where they have managed a combined three across their last six league trips (D3, L3). When the goals have arrived on their travels, though, they usually come late; 45% have been scored beyond the 75th minute. It was also in this period that they scored their equaliser in this season’s reverse fixture (1-1).

Players to watch: Only two players have scored more goals while aged 20 or under in the Football League this season than Sunderland’s Amad Diallo (nine). Hull opponent Regan Slater scored in his team’s last away game – all four of his league strikes this term have come on the road.

Hot streak: Sunderland are on a four-game winning run in fixtures played on Good Friday, scoring 12 goals along the way.
