Swansea Plymouth prediction 2024-02-03

Swansea vs Plymouth prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-02-02 15:00.
After kicking off his tenure at Swansea with a win and a draw, Luke Williams’s honeymoon period has been abruptly ended by three consecutive defeats. In his defence, they were facing Championship promotion contenders Southampton and Leicester City during that period, as well as top-flight Bournemouth in the FA Cup. Even taking that into account though, 11 goals conceded during those three matches is concerning, with nine of them coming before half-time.

Hosting Plymouth might be just what the doctor ordered then for the Welsh outfit, who came from behind in the reverse fixture to secure a 3-1 triumph. And perhaps having to chase a lead this Saturday would not be a bad thing either, considering that Swansea have dropped a mammoth 23 points from winning positions this season – a league-high figure.

As it happens, Williams and his opposite number at Plymouth, Ian Foster, were both appointed on the same day in early January, but Foster has got off to the more successful start in his new surroundings and is yet to taste defeat since taking the job (W2, D2). The Pilgrims’ strong form means they sit 15th – two places above their upcoming opponents – and are also in the hat for the FA Cup fifth round after earning a creditable replay against Leeds.

This encounter should be richly entertaining for the neutral, as no Championship side’s league games have featured more goals than Plymouth’s in 2023/24 (94). That’s certainly not led to success on the road, as they remain one of just two sides in the division yet to win an away league game this campaign!

Players to watch: Jerry Yates provided his first assist of the season at Leicester, and has scored twice in six career meetings with Plymouth (W2, D3, L1), including netting in October’s H2H. Facing him is likely to be Ryan Hardie, who has six goal involvements in as many matches (G5, A1), all of which have come after the half-hour mark.

Hot stat: Only Ipswich and Leeds have won more Championship games this term after falling behind than Plymouth’s three.
