Swansea Sunderland prediction 2023-11-04

Swansea vs Sunderland prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-11-03 15:00.
Swansea City beat playoff-chasing Blackburn Rovers 1-0 last weekend to end a two-game losing run and move themselves to 13th place in the Championship. The result put an end to a 52-year drought of wins at Ewood Park for the Swans, who should be further buoyed by claiming their first points of the season against a side currently above them in the table.

With eighth-placed Sunderland making the long trip to South Wales, the Swans will need to improve on their home form if they are to register their second win against a current top-half team. So far this season, the Swansea.com Stadium has been far from a fortress, with only two victories and one clean sheet kept from seven games (D2, L3), although an encouraging four-game winning streak at all venues against the Tyne and Wear club offers hope of recording a third home victory this season.

Sunderland also got back to winning ways last weekend as they came back from 1-0 down at home to beat Norwich City 3-1, ending a run of three league defeats which had seen them score only once. After breaking that streak, manager Tony Mowbray will now be keen for them to take another step forward by scoring first in this game, something they have been unable to do in their last four matches.

On that note, Sunderland failed to net first against Swansea in any of those last four losing H2Hs. Striking first and getting three points out of this fixture will therefore be a much needed boost for the Mackems, especially as they have beaten the Swans only twice in the last 20 meetings, with just one victory in South Wales from 1964 onwards!

Players to watch: Jerry Yates is Swansea’s leading striker this campaign. Three of his four goals have been recorded at home and his side are yet to lose when he scores (W2, D2) this season. Hailed by one particular pundit as ‘playing in the wrong division', Sunderland’s Jack Clarke scored in this fixture last season and more recently is now the Championship’s leading goal scorer, with seven of his nine strikes coming in away fixtures.

Hot stat: Since returning to the second tier at the start of last season, Sunderland have not conceded more than two goals in an away Championship fixture (W14, D7, L10).
