Swansea Wigan prediction 2022-11-05

Swansea vs Wigan prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-11-04 15:00.
Successive winless games (D1, L1) culminating in a 1-0 defeat against Preston in midweek sees Swansea City on the fringes of the play-offs coming into the weekend. Swansea have never really kicked on from a 2-0 South Wales derby victory against Cardiff almost two weeks ago, as boss Russell Martin insists his side need to find a “ruthless streak”.

Martin can’t argue that his Swansea side have been ruthless at home though, winning their last four Championship matches at the Swansea.com Stadium. Graham Potter was in charge of the Swans the last time they endured a better winning league run in front of the Swansea faithful back in 2019 (W6), and having won five of the last eight home league H2Hs against Wigan (D3), you would have to fancy Swansea to take another step towards that milestone.

If Swansea are looking up in the table, then Wigan certainly aren’t, as a 1-0 defeat against Stoke in midweek saw the Latics drop into the Championship relegation zone. Such has been their decline in recent weeks, Wigan were actually in the play-off places at the beginning of October, but fast forward just over a month and seven defeats from eight has plummeted them into the midst of a relegation battle.

That run includes three-straight away league defeats, one more than they’d lost in the previous 27 such games which somewhat highlights the decline Wigan have faced of late. Despite their plight, boss Leam Richardson remains defiant and insists his side’s “performances have been good in the main”, but it’s results Wigan need, not performances, as they seek their first win on Swansea turf since April 1991.

Players to watch: Swansea’s Jay Fulton is likely to line up against his former club having collected three yellow cards in his last seven appearances. Goals are few and far between in this Wigan team, but if they do get one, Nathan Broadhead could be the man behind it with his three goals this season serving as the Latics’ only one of the game.

Hot streak: Swansea are unbeaten in their last seven home league games against newly-promoted opposition (W4, D3).
