Torino Lecce prediction 2024-02-16

Torino vs Lecce prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-02-15 18:00.
Mid-table Torino have now lost just one of their last ten Serie A matches (W4, D5), but a 1-1 draw with strugglers Sassuolo left boss Ivan Jurić disappointed, as he has his sights set on the European places. With the Granata trailing the top-six by just five points it’s clear to see why Jurić was despondent, but he does at least know where his side need to improve without doing much soul-searching, as their measly return of 21 goals scored is better than only two other sides in the division.

Torino have at least been very solid at home, suffering only one home league defeat this term (W5, D5), and there was certainly no shame in that one as it came against runaway leaders Inter. However, they’ve often been unconvincing on their own turf against lower-ranked opposition, winning just two of their six home matches against teams starting this round 13th or lower (D4), including three goalless draws.

With 13th placed Lecce coming to town the home fans could be worried of that poor run continuing. The travelling faithful may have an equal sense of trepidation having seen their side lose six of their last eight matches (W1, D1), conceding 11 goals across their last four, including a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Bologna at the weekend.

As a result, the Giallorossi sit just five points clear of the drop zone pre-round, and extending that gap looks unlikely here as they remain one of just three teams in the division yet to win a single away league game (D5, L7). All seven of those defeats have come against sides above them in the table, and Lecce can’t even look to recent H2Hs for inspiration having lost each of the last three meetings without scoring!

Players to watch: Since his first-half strike in last season’s H2H, Torino’s Antonio Sanabria has scored six of his eight goals after the break. Lecce’s Roberto Piccoli has scored four of his five seasonal goals in the second-half, with three arriving beyond the 80th minute.

Hot stat: A league-high 16 of Torino’s matches have stood level at half-time this season, but that’s not happened in a top-flight H2H since 2001.
