Tottenham Sheffield Utd prediction 2023-09-16

Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-09-15 14:00.
Tottenham’s near-perfect start to the season (W3, D1) has certainly caught the eye, and after a 5-2 demolition of Burnley prior to the international break, Spurs now face another newly-promoted side, Sheffield United. The feelgood factor under new boss Ange Postecoglou is still flowing, and with most of Spurs’ top-four rivals facing European football in the coming weeks, they do perhaps have the advantage of being able to solely focus on domestic football.

Postecoglou now leads his side into what is just the second game of his home tenure, and if this one is anything like the first, a 2-0 win against Manchester United, he’ll be sending the Spurs faithful home happy. That’s something they’ve not particularly become accustomed to down the years, but they do tend to enjoy early-season success at home, winning their opening two home Premier League (PL) games in each of the last two seasons.

Sheffield United sitting on just a solitary point after four PL games (D1, L3) probably isn’t that much of a surprise, after the summer transfer window was overshadowed by the sale of key men, rather than notable incomings. Probably the most worrying aspect in their early season record for boss Paul Heckingbottom is the fact three of those games came at home, a place all PL newcomers see as their best chance of picking up points.

That sentiment probably rings even truer for the Blades, who have notoriously struggled away from home in the top flight, winning just two of their last 26 PL road trips (D3, L21). Somewhere in that run is a 4-0 drubbing in this very stadium, but having knocked Spurs out the FA Cup last season, albeit at Bramall Lane, Sheffield United will hope they hold a small psychological edge.

Players to watch: Scorer of a hat-trick against Burnley before the international break, Heung-min Son closed the scoring in that aforementioned 4-0 thrashing. Cameron Archer opened his Blades account in the 2-2 draw against Everton prior to the hiatus, and curiously five of his last six goals have arrived between the 30th minute and half-time.

Hot streak: Sheffield United have conceded after half-time in all four of their PL games this season.
