Tottenham vs West Ham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-10-18 11:30.
[p]When Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou declared “I always win things in my second year” earlier in the season, there’s no doubting that registering the club’s worst seven-game start to a Premier League season in 16 years (W3, D1, L3) was nowhere to be seen on his list of aims. So far, Postecoglou’s second season has been much like the first, with promising victories followed up by equally underwhelming displays. [/p]
[p]The latest, a 3-2 loss away to Brighton despite leading 2-0 at half-time, was described by Postecoglou as “the worst” of his tenure, even suggesting his players may have gotten ahead of themselves following the highs of a 3-0 win at Old Trafford. A win could have seen them occupy sixth place during the international break instead of the Seagulls, so the international break could be seen as a great opportunity to stamp out any complacency. [/p]
[p]West Ham United are underperforming as well, albeit without the highs that Spurs have experienced. Even if they were far too good for newly promoted Ipswich (W 4-1) prior to the break, they still have a long way to go to return to what is expected of them, having taken fewer points from their first seven Premier League matches only once in the previous five editions. [/p]
[p]On the road, the Hammers have been a vastly different side, taking points from all three Premier League away trips (W1, D2) despite being the underdogs on every occasion. Manager Julen Lopetegui, who once reportedly declined an offer to manage Tottenham in 2021, can rightfully target their next few Premier League away games as opportunities for more points, particularly this one as they were successful on their last visit in December 2023 (W 2-1). [/p]
[p]Players to watch: After finding the net in two of his last three league appearances, Tottenham’s James Maddison is one away from scoring at least three goals by the end of round nine for the third season running. Mohammed Kudus contributed to the goalfest against Ipswich and that appears to be a habit of his – 11 of his last 15 competitive club goalscoring appearances saw at least four match goals![/p]
[p]Hot stat: Both teams scored in seven of the last nine competitive H2Hs, whilst seven of West Ham’s last nine Premier League away games also saw both teams score on the day. [/p]
