Troyes AC Ajaccio prediction 2022-10-16

Troyes vs AC Ajaccio prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-10-15 13:00.
Although Troyes loiter in midtable, they are two points better off than what they had at this stage of last season (11- W3, D2, L5) and so might harbour hopes of bettering last term’s 15th place finish. However, if they’re to do that then they must prioritise fixing a leaking defence that’s failed to keep a clean sheet in 13 straight league outings and which has already conceded 21 goals this season – only two Ligue 1 teams have conceded more coming into the round.

Ajaccio could therefore be a welcome opponent for Troyes considering the hosts have secured a clean sheet in four of their last five competitive meetings against them, unsurprisingly going undefeated in all five (W4, D1). That said, Troyes haven’t actually won a Ligue 1 game against a newly-promoted team since December 2017, so manager Bruno Irles would be wise to taper expectations.

The visitors have found life back in France’s top tier tough and currently sit on the exact same number of points that they had after ten matches in their last campaign at this level, which of course ended in relegation (W2, D1, L7). However, there are signs of life as Ajaccio have won two of their last three Ligue 1 matches (L1), both away from home, which will have eased pressure on manager Olivier Pantaloni who can boast of being the longest serving active manager in the division (seven years, 11 months).

Pantaloni and his side are now presented with a chance to make a bit of history as Ajaccio have never previously won three straight Ligue 1 away matches. It’s likely that they’ll need a quicker start if they are to achieve that feat though, as they’ve often been caught napping in the early stages on the road this season, as seen by the five away goals they’ve conceded inside the opening 30 minutes, whilst scoring only once themselves during the same period.

Players to watch: Troyes’ Renaud Ripart has only scored two league goals this season, yet coming into the round only five Ligue 1 players have averaged more shots on goal (3.48 per 90). Out to stop him will be Ajaccio defender Oumar Gonzalez who had collected the joint-most yellow cards with five in the league following gameweek ten.

Hot stat: Ajaccio are the only Ligue 1 team yet to have a player score more than once.
