Troyes vs Rennes prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-09-03 15:05.
Troyes head coach Bruno Irles believes his side have finally “launched” their season after recording back-to-back Ligue 1 wins for the first time since March. Wins against Angers and Monaco have eased the pressure on the under-fire Irles, who has still only tasted victory in seven of his 24 matches in charge and admits it is going to be a “very hard” season for his side.
ESTAC boosted their squad with a trio of late signings, with Marlos Moreno, Amar Abdirahman Ahmed and Ante Palaversa joining the club. All three could be handed their debuts against Rennes, but none of them particularly help address the club’s defensive issues, and that’s clearly an area they must improve as Troyes have conceded 13 times already in just five matches and have kept just one clean sheet in their last 13 outings.
Rennes also enjoyed a busy deadline day, as after Loïc Badé and Serhou Guirassy left for Nottingham Forest and Stuttgart respectively, they took things right to the wire to bring in Amine Gouiri and Christopher Wooh. The pair could well come straight into the side here, as despite beating Brest 3-1 last time out, manager Bruno Génésio was left disheartened by his side’s second-half display which he described as “feverish, with a lot of technical errors”.
That victory was a second win in three for the Red and Blacks (L1), but six of their seven Ligue 1 points have been picked up at home. On the road, Rennes are actually on a run of five successive matches without a win (D2, L3), while also conceding at least two goals in seven of the last nine. A strong H2H record against Troyes should breed confidence though, having lost just one of their last 12 meetings (W6, D5).
Players to watch: Troyes forward Mama BaldĂ© has scored three times in five appearances this season – the same figure that he managed in 30 games during 2021/22. Meanwhile, Rennes’ Martin Terrier netted in both meetings between these clubs last season and has lost only one of his four meetings with Troyes (W2, D1).
Hot streak: Both teams have scored and there's been three or more goals in seven of Rennes’ last nine away Ligue 1 fixtures.
