Union Berlin Stuttgart prediction 2023-04-01

Union Berlin vs Stuttgart prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-03-31 13:30.
Unlikely title hopefuls Union Berlin entered the international break on a high after ending their five-game competitive winless run with a 2-0 victory over Frankfurt to remain within five points of the leaders. This is just the Iron Ones’ fourth season in the top-flight and despite their recent wobbles, their current tally of 48 points eclipses their previous club record points haul at this stage of a top-flight season which was 38 set back in 2020/21.

Union’s stadium announcer recently described the club as a “little mouse hiding in the corner” for many years as they struggled financially in the early 2000s before their meteoric rise. They’re looking more like the big cats themselves these days, with only league leaders Borussia Dortmund picking up more than their 21 points in 2023 ahead of this round.

In stark contrast, only Hoffenheim have picked up fewer points than rock-bottom Stuttgart’s six since the turn of the year. Another damning reference point to the polarising moments these clubs find themselves in is the fact that only in Stuttgart’s 2018/19 relegation campaign have they had fewer points than their current haul of 20, an almighty fall from grace for the five-time German champions.

A trip to east Berlin is unlikely to soothe any relegation fears either as Stuttgart have never recorded a Bundesliga win over Union (D3, L2). Ending that run on this particular occasion would be rather poignant as this is Bruno Labaddia’s 100th Bundesliga game in charge of Stuttgart, and Union are one of only two sides he can boast a 100% personal win rate against in the Bundesliga (W2).

Players to watch: Union’s Sheraldo Becker earned some valuable minutes with Suriname during the break, and he could prove crucial here as four of his eight goals this season were decisive in victories. Stuttgart’s Chris Führich should be fresh for this as he had no international duties, although both of his goals this season came in 2-1 away defeats.

Hot streak: Only Bayern Munich (19) can boast a longer unbeaten run of home league games than Union heading into the round (W12, D6).
