Union Berlin Stuttgart prediction 2023-10-21

Union Berlin vs Stuttgart prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-10-20 13:30.
After winning both of their opening two league matches of the 2023/24 season by a 4-1 scoreline, Union Berlin have since lost seven competitive outings in succession, the club’s longest such losing streak since 2009. Manager Urs Fischer will have been working tirelessly on improving results throughout the international break as a result, and will hope that his side can recapture some much needed home form here as they welcome Stuttgart to Stadion An der Alten Försterei, a venue where they remained unbeaten in the Bundesliga all last season (W11, D6).

That included a routine 3-0 Union victory in the last meeting between these two sides in Germany’s capital, a result which in turn extended the hosts unbeaten H2H streak overall to eight matches (W3, D5). The last five of those have seen the Iron Ones concede no more than once per game, form they’ll need to recapture given their recent defensive woes.

That’ll be easier said than done as Stuttgart return from the international break sat second in the German top-flight thanks to their record of six wins from their opening seven league outings (L1). That represents their best ever start to a Bundesliga season as they’ve remarkably already taken more points (18) and scored more goals (22) than during the whole first half of last season!

A return to European competition for the first time since 2013/14 will be the visitors’ main aim now as they look to extend their solid away form further here, after claiming back-to-back wins on the road. That’s already the same amount of victories as they managed on their travels all last season (two), though their record of never winning an away H2H will provide some nerves ahead of kick-off.

Players to watch: Union’s Robin Gosens has four goals in seven Bundesliga appearances this season, all of which have come before the 35th minute. Meanwhile, Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy has already hit 13 league strikes this campaign – the most of any player across Europe’s traditional top five leagues!

Hot stat: Only three of Union’s last 11 Bundesliga home matches have seen both teams score.
