Utrecht vs Sittard prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2024-02-10 13:30.
FC Utrecht are starting to get to the point where they can almost smell the top half of the table again. A large handful of draws did not immediately result in many points, but the three they collected in their home match against FC Volendam (4-2) was a big boost. Not least because Utrecht, who traditionally are a very strong club at home, have been scoring fewer points in De Galgenwaard than outside it.
The Domstedelingen are now undefeated across their last eight official home matches, but that also includes five draws and a KNVB Cup victory. With 11 points from ten meetings at home, coach Ron Jans' team still has a lot left to conquer. Speaking of that cup tournament, FC Utrecht was eliminated by the brand new semi-finalist Feyenoord Rotterdam just before the turn of the year.
The aftertaste of that loss has long since been washed away, but the tournament is still very much present in the mind of opponent Fortuna Sittard. Last Thursday at around 11 o'clock in the evening, Ron Jans' team was defeated in Euroborg after a penalty shootout. Oğuzhan Özyakup and Mouhamed Belkheir were the takers of the decisive penalties that sent the Limburg side home to their own stadium in the most unsociable hours of the night.
The period leading up to the next match will mainly focus on their recovery from 120 tough minutes under winter conditions. Buijs had to – whether or not out of necessity – successively replace Alen Halilović, Justin Lonwijk, Iñigo Córdoba, Ragnar Oratmangoen, Kaj Sierhuis and Mitchell Dijks. Their efforts will undoubtedly be the subject of discussion heading into another match that involves a lengthy bus trip.
Players to watch: FC Utrecht’s Taylor Booth (G3) was undisputedly the Player of the Match against Volendam. He had saved his first three matches of this Eredivisie season for an excellent moment. On the Fortuna Sittard side, Arianit Ferati (A1) was the only player to complete the 120 minutes and also take a penalty in the match against Groningen.
Hot stat: Utrecht won only two of their ten Eredivisie games as a pre-match favourite this season (D4, L4).
