Vaduz vs Apollon prediction: EUROPE: Europa Conference League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-09-07 19:00.
As one of the nine teams making their European group stage debut in this season’s UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL), Vaduz will have a whole nation behind them as they bring UEFA group stage football to Liechtenstein for the very first time. Vaduz earned their spot the hard way, coming through all three qualifying rounds unbeaten by drawing their three home games but then winning their three away games.
The Rheinpark Stadion will be eagerly awaiting its time in the spotlight, despite August 2019 being the last time Vaduz fans experienced a European win on home soil (D3, L3 since). In fact, Vaduz await their first home win of this season as a whole (D5, L2), but with Apollon Limassol set to visit in the first ever encounter between any clubs from Liechtenstein or Cyprus, a clean slate will be considered.
Apollon enter this season's UECL group stages after being ousted from the Champions League third qualifying round and Europa League playoffs, losing to Maccabi Haifa and Olympiacos respectively. The Cypriots are no strangers to the continental stage though, with this being their tenth consecutive season competing in Europe, although it's their first group stage appearance since 2018/19.
The reigning champions of Cyprus make their way to Liechtenstein off the back of consecutive 1-0 domestic wins, and will need to display that mental fortitude once again. Despite impressively winning their last European group stage match 3-1 at Marseille, Apollon’s form on the road in Europe leaves much to be desired, losing nine of their 12 away group stage matches in UEFA competition (W2, D1).
Players to watch: Vaduz’s Tunahan Cicek guided his side through qualifying with three goals, contributing to him scoring the match opener four times in his last six goalscoring outings. While Apollon’s Ioannis Pittas has scored five of his last seven club goals away from home.
Hot stat: There have been nine goals scored past the 75th minute across Apollon’s last ten away matches.
