Valladolid Sevilla prediction 2023-05-14

Valladolid vs Sevilla prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-05-13 16:30.
Valladolid are in danger of sliding into the relegation zone after suffering a third consecutive La Liga (LL) loss with an unsuccessful trip to Rayo Vallecano (L2-1). Four remaining games against clubs beginning this round in the bottom half of the standings present some handy opportunities, though Valladolid cannot take them for granted after failing to defeat strugglers Valencia (L 2-1), Mallorca (D 3-3) and even Elche (D 1-1) in recent weeks.

The decision by club owner Ronaldo to pull manager Paulo Pezzolano out of Cruzeiro and into his LL outfit appeared a masterstroke when Valladolid earned seven points in Pezzolano’s first three games, but his brief tenure has turned sour with nine goals conceded across three straight defeats. Their already league-worst goal difference beyond the 75th minute this season (-14) took further hits in that run and could set them up for more failure here.

That’s because Sevilla have scored three match-winning goals in the dying stages of their last four LL outings (W3, L1). Sevilla’s time under José Luis Mendilibar has been everything Valladolid hoped their own managerial change would be; not only has Mendilibar assured them safety after he began his job two points above the relegation zone, but European qualification and a Europa League final are both within reach.

It was that midweek trip to Juventus, a 1-1 draw described by Mendilibar as “a great game” from his players, that now has Sevilla unbeaten in five consecutive away trips across all competitions (W3, D2). Four of those five matches produced no more than two total goals each, which means we could be set for a repeat of the 1-1 draw in the reverse H2H.

Players to watch: Valladolid forward Sergio León hasn’t had much fun against Sevilla, failing to score or win six of his seven competitive clashes (D3, L3) but does come into this game after netting the consolation goal from the bench against Rayo last week. After his unfortunate own goal against Espanyol last round, Karim Rekik may be even more determined to emulate the goal he scored in the reverse H2H.

Hot streak: Sevilla have not led at the end of both halves in any of their last 13 LL away games.
