Verona Fiorentina prediction 2025-02-23

Verona vs Fiorentina prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2025-02-22 14:00.
[p]Hellas Verona narrowly lost 1-0 to AC Milan last weekend – following a 5-0 home defeat to Atalanta – to remain three points above the relegation zone. Collecting a mere five points in seven Serie A games this calendar year has played a big part in their current problems, but it’s their poor scoring record which is garnering unwanted attention, as their tally of two goals since the start of 2025 is worse than any other club in the traditional top-five European leagues. [/p]

[p]Playing at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi has been a demoralising experience recently, as the GialloblĂą have scored only once and gained just a solitary point in their last six home games (D1). That run of results included four straight failures to find the net, meaning that Verona now risk seeing that unwanted record on their own patch stretch to five, which last happened in the top-flight way back in March 1979.[/p]

[p]Fiorentina start this weekend in the last spot currently on offer for European qualification in Serie A, with a one-point advantage over the two teams immediately below them. Two defeats in a row however, bookended by a 2-0 loss to Como last weekend, mean they are in danger of losing back-to-back matches against bottom-half opponents in the league for the first time since September 2022, although four wins in their last five H2Hs (L1) would suggest that La Viola have a good chance of avoiding that fate.[/p]

[p]The sole defeat in that sequence came at this venue last season (2-1), but Fiorentina haven’t lost successive H2H trips since December 1989. Extending that run may need the visitors to improve on their recent away form, having won just once in their last six matches on the road across all competitions (D2, L3), with the last three of those games ending 2-1 (W1, L2). [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Darko Lazović scored Verona’s opener in last season’s corresponding fixture and his only other goal against Fiorentina also ended in a win, on that occasion for Genoa. Moise Kean has netted five career goals against Verona – more than against any other opponent – including a hat-trick in Fiorentina’s 3-1 victory in November.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: A league-high eight of Verona’s 12 home matches this season have produced more than one first-half goal.[/p]
