Villarreal Getafe prediction 2024-02-16

Villarreal vs Getafe prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-02-15 20:00.
As far away from the drop zone as they are to the top half of the La Liga table, Villarreal find themselves destined for mid-table mediocrity despite piecing together a four-match unbeaten league run (W1, D3). The high number of draws has held them back of late, with stalemates in their last two home league games leaving them on the brink of drawing three successive such games for the first time since December 2020!

The visit of Getafe is perhaps a timely one then as they look to turn the tide in a positive manner, given they have won more La Liga matches against them than any other side (W20, D7, L8). Isolating home H2H results paints an even prettier picture (W13, D1, L3), and with four successive wins in such matches, Villarreal know securing a fifth for the first time ever will steer them 11 points clear of the relegation zone.

Despite an indifferent run of two wins from seven La Liga matches (D2, L3), Getafe reside in the top half of the table and harbour an outside shot at challenging the European places. They travel on a high too after a 3-2 home win against Celta Vigo at the weekend, but it’s been a much different story on the road, where they’ve won just once this campaign (D6, L5).

Although they haven’t achieved much success on their travels, they have at least been able to entertain fans, with their 18 goals scored and 23 conceded marking the second highest away goals-per-game average in the division. Adding to that may prove tricky though, as only once in their last nine away H2Hs have they managed to score more than once, while six of those games saw them fail to score at all – a feat that befell both sides in the reverse fixture.

Players to watch: Villarreal’s Alexander Sørloth may leave it late again, as three of his last four club goals came after the 85th minute. Jaime Mata was Getafe’s hero against Celta with a brace, but he interestingly received a yellow card on two of his last three personal visits to Villarreal.

Hot stat: A league-high 92% (11/12) of Getafe’s away league games this season have seen at least one first-half goal.
