Villarreal vs Leganes prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2025-05-13 17:00.
[p]Villarreal’s longest winning run in La Liga since March 2024 means they are on course to end their three-season absence from the UEFA Champions League. The Yellow Submarine have picked up three successive victories, the most recent of which was a late 1-0 success at Girona, which means they start the round fifth and three points clear of sixth-place Real Betis.[/p]
[p]Tightening up their defence has been key to their recent revival, with half of their six seasonal La Liga clean sheets coming since the start of April (W4, D2, L1). Continuing that uptick in form against struggling Leganés certainly can’t be ruled out given Villarreal have won 11 of their 14 league games against teams who start this round in 13th place or lower in the table (D2, L1).[/p]
[p]Bottom-three Leganés certainly won’t be overjoyed by the prospect of facing Villarreal, not least because they’ve lost six of the last seven H2Hs (W1). The visitors do at least arrive at Estadio de la Cerámica on the back of a vital 3-2 success over Espanyol on Sunday, a result which means they are one point from safety ahead of round 36.[/p]
[p]That victory ended an eight-match winless run (D4, L4), but given they’re also unbeaten in four (W1, D3), they could just be hitting form at the perfect time. There’s still huge room for improvement, as LeganĂ©s have conceded at least twice in five of their last six away league games, and they tend to struggle most after the break, with only one La Liga team leaking more second-half goals than their 36 this season ahead of the round.[/p]
[p]Player to watch: Yéremy Pino has scored in his last two home appearances, while he has not lost a game in which he has scored for four years (W9, D2)! One player who might catch the eye for the wrong reasons is Leganés’ Yvan Neyou, who has picked up a pre-round league-high 14 yellow cards this season, including in their last two away games.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Villarreal have dropped points in half of the 12 home league games in which they have scored first this season (W6, D5, L1).[/p]
