Vitesse vs Twente prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2024-03-01 19:00.
Last time, the time had finally arrived: after having collected just two points in eight Eredivisie games, Vitesse Arnhem finally managed a crucial league victory. When they visited Excelsior Rotterdam, the Arnhem side were too strong hosts on the way to a 2-1 win, which gave Trolleybus City a glimmer of hope. The gap to last weekend’s opponent, who were the first team directly above the relegation zone, is now just five points.
Perhaps most encouragingly, two players (Paxten Aaronson and Nicolas Isimat-Mirin) registered their first goals for the club. It’s probably not surprising that it took so long, given Vitesse are still the only team in the competition yet to produce 20+ goals this season. At home, Edward Sturing’s team have been particularly poor in that area. In all but one of their 13 home matches this season, they recorded a maximum of just one goal for the game.
With three 3-0 wins in their last four matches, FC Twente is well on their way to retaining its place in the top three of the competition until the last matchday. The Tukkers are in excellent order defensively, with a total of only two goals conceded in their last six games. The wingers have all scored no more than three league goals, but it makes a difference that the strikers and especially attacking midfielder Sem Steijn have been finding the net with relative ease.
Steijn scored twice again last weekend and now has 12 league goals, making him the most productive player of the Eredivisie who is not positioned at the head of the attack. The only problem for Twente is that they have been dropping too many points on the road for many years. After PSV, Twente are the best performing club of the season at home, but have managed to win only two of their last eight official away games (D4, L2).
Players to watch: Ricky van Wolfswinkel has played against his former employer Vitesse five times with Twente and was responsible for four goals and an assist. Meanwhile, Anis Hadj Moussa has been directly involved in two goals in his last four matches (G1, A1).
Hot stat: Twente have won just 43% of Eredivisie games as an away favourite since the start of last year (W10, D7, L6).
