RKC Waalwijk can cap off a dream season in their last two games by storming home to steal eighth place and a spot in the European playoffs after only recently ensuring their survival in the top flight. They'll get an enormous advantage this weekend by returning home where they have won their last three games (against Vitesse, Groningen and Volendam) compared with failing to score in their last four on the road.
Whilst they cannot take any opposition for granted, a final day meeting against Cambuur would mean that Waalwijk are certainly in the box seat for eighth if they can win here, particularly as nearest rivals Heerenveen have PSV and Go Ahead Eagles in their run home. That's not to mention RKC's superior goal difference, which could also come in handy.
FC Twente have their sights set on definitively claiming fifth place if not dislodging AZ from fourth by season's end. For the latter to occur, they're going to need to get the better of Ajax at home as well as win here, both of which will be difficult tasks. With a draw or loss in Waalwijk, Twente could open the door for Sparta to finish fifth.
It is not inconceivable that these sides could meet again soon in the European playoffs, and a draw here would significantly increase the chances of setting that up. With seven points in their last three games, Twente are nonetheless working up some excellent playoff form regardless of who their opposition will be.
Players to watch: RKC's Michiel Kramer (G12, A4) and Václav Černý (G12, A10) will again be hoping to demonstrate the prowess that has elevated them both to be the top scorers of their respective clubs.
