Watford Coventry prediction 2024-03-09

Watford vs Coventry prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-03-08 15:00.
[p]While they may have recovered from a goal down to rescue a point against Swansea on Wednesday, Watford’s miserable run shows little sign of stopping having won just one of their last 11 matches in all competitions (D4, L6). As a result, Valérien Ismaël’s men, who two seasons ago were playing in the Premier League, remarkably sit closer to the relegation zone than the play-off places. [/p]

[p]That’s not being helped by the division’s longest ongoing winless run on home soil, not emerging victorious at Vicarage Road since late November (D3, L5). A return of just one defeat from the last eight H2Hs with Coventry may inspire confidence among the home faithful (W2, D5), although over the course of the last two meetings, the Hornets took the lead on four separate occasions yet failed to win either (D2)![/p]

[p]Coventry responded to suffering back-to-back league defeats for the first time since early November by thrashing bottom side Rotherham 5-0 in midweek, moving to within three points of the top-six as a result. The Sky Blues haven’t managed to string together consecutive league victories since January though, and having won just one of their last four Championship away outings (D1, L2), this looks to be a tricky fixture in which to do so.[/p]

[p]Manager Mark Robins thrives at this point of the campaign, having guided Coventry from League Two to the second-tier in the space of two years, before they reached the Championship play-off final last term. Experience at this stage of the season is on their side then, as is their impressive goal difference of +15, comfortably better than the sides competing agianst them for sixth place.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Yáser Asprilla has three direct goal involvements (G2, A1) in his last five appearances, with those contributions all coming between the 55th and 75th minutes. Ellis Simms incredibly netted first-half hat-tricks in both of Coventry’s last two home games, and also got the winner in his side’s most recent away triumph against Stoke last month.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: The first goal in each of Coventry’s last four matches was scored in the opening ten minutes. [/p]
