Werder Bremen vs Bayer Leverkusen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-10-25 16:30.
[p]Werder Bremen enter this daunting clash against reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen with a spring in their step after beating Wolfsburg 4-2 last weekend. Their third successive away victory moved them within two points of the top-six pre-round, but it’s a different story for Ole Werner’s men at home where they’ve won just two of their last ten league games (D3, L5), both of which were last season. [/p]
[p]Recent history suggests those struggles may continue as Werder have failed to win any of the last eight H2Hs (D4, L4), including a pair of defeats last season that saw them concede eight goals without reply. Worryingly then, the hosts are one of two sides yet to score a home Bundesliga goal ahead of the weekend![/p]
[p]Werder may well take heart from the arrival of a Leverkusen defence that’s been far from water-tight, yet the champions are beginning to hit their stride. Since finally tasting defeat in the Bundesliga in August against Leipzig, Xabi Alonso’s side have since gone eight games unbeaten in all competitions (W5, D3) – a run which has helped keep them within touching distance of the early pacesetters. [/p]
[p]Frustratingly for Alonso though, the three draws in that ongoing streak all came after Leverkusen had taken the lead, most recently in midweek UEFA Champions League action against Brest. It’s unsurprising therefore that Leverkusen are one of two sides in the Bundesliga to have both scored and conceded in every game this season, a trend Alonso will be keen to end here. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Mitchell Weiser got his first league goal of the campaign against Wolfsburg, meaning that the former Leverkusen man has now scored in each of his last ten top-flight seasons. The visitors’ Jonas Hofmann has directly contributed to a goal in each of his last three games, but he hasn’t scored in 14 career matches against Werder – comfortably the most times he has faced a single opponent without finding the net. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Four of Werder’s last eight games have seen their opponents on the day receive a red card. [/p]
