Werder Bremen Dortmund prediction 2024-03-09

Werder Bremen vs Dortmund prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-03-08 17:30.
[p]Comfortably in mid-table, Werder Bremen are eyeing a first top-half finish in the Bundesliga since the 2018/19 season. A run of four wins from five Bundesliga matches (L1) had Ole Werner’s side confident of doing just that, but they’ve since failed to emerge victorious from their last two (D1, L1) after a 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim last time out, and as such, the hosts are now vulnerable to suffering back-to-back league defeats for the first time since early December.[/p]

[p]The River Islanders will be glad to be back on home soil then, having lost just one of their last five Bundesliga outings at the Weserstadion (W2, D2). The proposition of avoiding defeat here on this occasion looks more difficult however, as Bremen have failed to win a home league game against Borussia Dortmund since December 2014 (D2, L5), losing each of the last three whilst conceding exactly twice in all. [/p]

[p]This Dortmund side are tough to beat on their travels too, last losing on the road in the Bundesliga in mid-November (W3, D4). A 2-0 victory over Union Berlin last week extended that run, as well as preserving the Black and Yellows’ place in the top-four, with Edin Terzić’s side now losing just once in ten league outings (W5, D4), handing them a one-point advantage over fellow top-four chasers RB Leipzig ahead of this matchday.[/p]

[p]With the second leg of their UEFA Champions League tie against PSV on the horizon in the days after this game, Terzić will be keen to keep his players focused on the task at hand. Perhaps his primary area for concern will be up front, as Dortmund have netted the fewest goals among sides in the current top-five, while a third of all their away Bundesliga strikes have arrived in the 76th minute or later! [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Bremen’s Mitchell Weiser has directly contributed to goals in three of his last four league games (G1, A2), but if he scores it’s likely to arrive late, with each of his previous seven strikes coming after half time. Dortmund could turn to Julian Brandt to respond as he’s found the net in each of the last three H2Hs.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Dortmund have scored before half-time in ten of their last 11 competitive games.[/p]
