Werder Bremen Freiburg prediction 2024-01-27

Werder Bremen vs Freiburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-01-26 14:30.
Werder Bremen produced their best result of the season to defeat Bayern Munich for the first time since 2008 last weekend (W 1-0) and are now nine points clear of the Bundesliga bottom two. Goalscorer Mitchell Weiser called it a “perfect day”, but they will want to back it up with another strong performance as they look to extend a five-match unbeaten league run (W2, D3).

Now that they have claimed a first away win of the campaign, a return home ought to further boost their confidence, especially as the River Islanders have only lost one of their last five Bundesliga games at Weserstadion (W2, D2) and one of the last six home H2Hs against Freiburg (W2, D3). That defeat came last term though (L 2-1), so they have good reason to be wary of their visitors.

Freiburg beat Hoffenheim 3-2 last Saturday to stay in seventh place, and despite Bremen’s heroics last weekend, they can be encouraged by the fact that they have only lost one league match in 2023/24 against clubs currently below them (W8, D3). However, they still feel they need more firepower to push for European qualification and could be busy in the final stages of the transfer window, with Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto reportedly a target.

The Breisgau Brazilians should expect a close battle here as all three of their Bundesliga away victories this season have come courtesy of a one-goal margin. None of the last six meetings at Werder were decided by more than that either, further hinting that a tight encounter is on the cards.

Players to watch: Both of Weiser’s goals for Bremen this term have come between the 55th and 65th minute, yet each of his last four competitive strikes were away from home. Roland Sallai has scored his last two goals from the 85th minute onwards and Freiburg have won all four of the domestic outings in which he has netted this campaign.

Hot streak: Each of Freiburg’s last six league games (and the last four H2Hs) have produced fewer than 1.5 first-half goals.
