West Brom Preston prediction 2024-05-04

West Brom vs Preston prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-05-03 11:30.
[p]The pressure is intensifying on West Brom, after a 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday made it three consecutive losses, and left them vulnerable to missing out on the play-offs. A win will confirm their place in the top-six, as will in all likelihood a draw given their far superior goal difference to Hull, but neither are a given based on the way they’ve performed recently.[/p]

[p]Head coach Carlos Corberán admitted they haven’t been at Championship level in recent weeks, which hardly inspires confidence in their ability to progress through the play-offs should they make it. But Corberán and his colleagues should instead point to West Brom’s outstanding home record against fellow current top-half opposition this league season (W8, L2) and the fact they thumped Preston 4-0 in September’s reverse fixture.[/p]

[p]Preston farewelled their home supporters on Monday evening with a fourth consecutive loss without scoring in yet another disappointing end to their home campaign, with head coach Ryan Lowe was especially unhappy with the manner in which they conceded three goals to league winners Leicester. The Lilywhites ended 2022/23 with just one point from five matches to fizzle out into a mid-table position and are on the verge of replicating that in 2023/24. [/p]

[p]Lowe’s side conceded eight goals without reply in their ongoing four-game losing streak, and are also scoreless across their four most recent Championship away trips (D1, L3). Considering they’re in far worse shape than when they were hammered at home by West Brom earlier in the season, as well as the additional rest for the home team, the travelling Preston supporters could be in for a miserable swansong.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: A wide spread of scorers makes Brandon Thomas-Asante the only man to deliver two of West Brom’s last nine Championship goals at home – one more would see him set a new personal best for most goals in a league season. On what looks set to be his final appearance for the club after over a decade of service, Preston captain Alan Browne will look to add to his four-goal haul this season, all of which arrived before the break.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Six of the last seven H2Hs saw the winning team return a clean sheet (West Brom x4, Preston x2).[/p]
