West Brom QPR prediction 2023-10-24

West Brom vs QPR prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-10-23 19:00.
West Bromwich Albion returned from the latest international break by recording a 0-0 home draw with Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, a result which left them just outside the play-off positions ahead of this midweek round. It was their second consecutive league outing without a win (D1, L1) and one that manager Carlos Corberán was particularly unhappy with, calling for improvement from his players both in attack and in defence.

There are at least plenty of good omens for West Brom to factor in when they welcome QPR to The Hawthorns, with H2H history one source of inspiration given West Brom have lost just one of their last 11 league H2Hs dating back to 2014/15 (W6, D4). Midweek form has also been encouraging, particularly on Tuesdays, where the Baggies have won their last four league matches, all of which saw them keep a clean sheet!

Visiting QPR continue to freefall towards the bottom of the Championship standings after their 2-1 loss to Huddersfield over the weekend made it seven straight league outings without a win (D2, L5), the most recent four of which were all defeats. That poor run of form has put immense pressure on the shoulders of manager Gareth Ainsworth, though he remained confident post-match about their overall on-field health, declaring he’s “pretty sure we’re going to finish above the relegation line.”

There’s plenty of work to do if that’s to be the case, as QPR come into this match with the Championship’s joint-poorest defence having leaked 22 goals across 12 league outings. The visitors also continue to struggle in front of goal, scoring the second-fewest goals in the Championship so far (nine), whilst they’ve recorded multiple goals in a game only twice in 13 competitive fixtures!

Players to watch: West Brom’s Brandon Thomas-Asante will be hoping to get back on the scoresheet here, though it may take some time as his three goals this season, all of which arrived in August, have all come between half-time and the 65th minute. Meanwhile, QPR’s Jack Colback has netted twice this season, whilst he also has two H2H goals – his joint-most against any side.

Hot streak: The last six H2Hs at this venue saw both teams score on the day.
