Wolfsburg Bayer Leverkusen prediction 2023-10-21

Wolfsburg vs Bayer Leverkusen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-10-20 13:30.
Alternating between wins and defeats across the last six rounds has hardly been ideal for Wolfsburg (W3, L3), yet it is a trend they’ll hope to continue for at least one more game after signing off for the international break with a 3-1 loss against Stuttgart. A home return may be fruitful in that regard, as the Wolves have bared their teeth with a 100% winning rate at home so far (W3), each of which saw them net exactly twice.

That fine home form is part of a larger run of just one defeat across Wolfsburg’s last ten home league outings (W5, D4), seven of which saw them score at least twice. Perhaps throwing cold water on that trend is the fact that none of the last 14 Bundesliga H2Hs between these sides have resulted in a home win, with Wolfsburg picking up just two of the last 21 available points in home clashes (D2, L5)!

Reversing that horrid home H2H form will be easier said than done as surprise league leaders Bayer Leverkusen head to town. Xabi Alonso has seen his stock rise exponentially this season after overseeing a ten-game competitive unbeaten start to the season (W9, D1), which is their longest unbeaten start to a campaign since a run of 14 back in 1995/96!

Only three times in history have Leverkusen travelled to face Wolfsburg as the league leaders, although they shockingly went on to lose each game! That quirk feeds into their unfortunate nicknames of “Neverkusen” and the “Eternal Bridesmaids”, but this team appear to be the real deal, having dispatched five of their last six Bundesliga opponents by 3+ goal margins, with the only exception a 2-2 draw at champions Bayern Munich.

Players to watch: Jonas Wind finds himself amongst the highest scoring players in the Bundesliga after a brace in Wolfsburg’s last home league game, that was before he got on the scoresheet for Denmark during the break. Trying to outdo him will be Leverkusen’s Jonas Hofmann, who has scored in three straight Bundesliga appearances for the first time in his career, with his latest strike bringing him up to an impressive 50 goals in the competition.

Hot streak: Wolfsburg have never won their first four Bundesliga home games of a new season.
