Wolfsburg Stuttgart prediction 2024-03-02

Wolfsburg vs Stuttgart prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-03-01 17:30.
While Wolfsburg still hold a comfortable eight-point gap to the relegation zone ahead of this round, they must be growing increasingly uneasy at their inability to get wins on the board. The Wolves have managed just two league victories since the end of September (D7, L8), resulting in them accruing just 25 points after 23 rounds. That’s their lowest return at this stage since 2017/18 – a year they ominously finished inside the relegation play-off spot, although they did manage to maintain their top-flight status.

That aside, it has at least been draws rather than defeats which have dominated their recent results, with six of their last seven league matches ending all square. The most recent at top-six outfit Frankfurt would have stung Niko Kovač’s men as they led twice before the eventual 2-2 final score. As a result, Wolfsburg have now dropped 17 Bundesliga points after taking the lead, with only Borussia Mönchengladbach having dropped more ahead of the round.

The home team’s hopes of turning the narrative around aren’t helped by the arrival of high-flying Stuttgart who, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Cologne last time out, can boast their best-ever Bundesliga record after 23 games in the three points for a win era, with 47 points already on the board. Such is the form of the top two that Stuttgart find themselves third, which is increasingly looking like the position they might end up in this season considering the six-point gap to second place, with the same margin to the team in fourth ahead of the gameweek.

Even so, the away side will want to keep the momentum going and will understandably arrive into the contest as favourites, but this historically hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Stuttgart with just one of their past 14 away league H2Hs ending in victory (D1, L12).

Players to watch: Expect midfielder Yannick Gerhardt to be in the thick of the action. He scored in Wolfsburg's last home game, the last H2H (L 3-1) and is also on a run of three yellow cards from his past four matches! Serhou Guirassy could also have a telling say, as despite his start to 2024 being hampered by injuries, he did score in Stuttgart’s last away game and also netted a hat-trick in October’s reverse.

Hot stat: No Bundesliga team has scored fewer second-half goals than Wolfsburg this season (one).
