Wolves Newcastle prediction 2024-09-15

Wolves vs Newcastle prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-09-14 15:30.
[p]It’s hardly been the ideal start to the 2024/25 Premier League season for Wolves who finished the last round as one of six teams in the competition without a win to their name. A 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the previous round will have come as an encouraging, albeit not spectacular result, so some extra time on the training ground during the first international break of the season will have come in handy for manager Gary O’Neil.[/p]

[p]What will cause concern is the fact that an embarrassing 6-2 defeat to Chelsea in their last appearance at Molineux made it five losses across Wolves’ last six home league games (W1), so a return home might not be quite as desired as some would think. They’re also burdened by the pressure of needing to improve on what is a woeful recent H2H record against Newcastle United, failing to win any of the last five Premier League meetings (D2, L3). [/p]

[p]Eddie Howe’s visiting side should be confident of extending that run at Molineux this weekend, especially after a 2-1 home win over Tottenham before the break continued their unbeaten start to the new campaign (W2, D1). There’s also the added bonus that Newcastle have won each of their last seven matches directly following an international break, a run which saw them net 22 goals in the process.[/p]

[p]That free-scoring approach has paid dividends of late, as the Magpies have scored in all but one of their last 23 Premier League outings, which could help them to challenge for a Champions League return this campaign. That streak is likely to be continued here on the basis that Wolves are on the longest streak in the competition (15 games) without keeping a clean sheet![/p]

[p]Key battle: Following his recent Wolves debut, goalkeeper Sam Johnstone will be looking to extend his return of two clean sheets across his last three H2Hs. Newcastle’s Alexander Isak may have different ideas, having directly contributed to 18 goals across his last 20 Premier League appearances (G15, A3), including the opener in the last H2H.[/p]

[p]Hot streak: Both teams have scored in each of the nine prior Premier League H2Hs at this venue, six of which finished 1-1. [/p]
